The Tour de France experienced one of the most exciting finals in its 117-year history.
On the 20th stage, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (r.) Took off his compatriot Primoz Roglic (l.) In a dramatic mountain time trial on the Planche des Belles Filles.
On the way to Paris a day later, the two were able to hug each other again.

While the athletes of the US basketball league NBA, the baseball league MLB or even tennis at the US Open showed solidarity with the worldwide Black Lives Matter movement, there was no similar action on the tour for a long time.
On the last day, the only black professional in the peloton, Kévin Réza, was allowed to start in the front row.
Before the start, the drivers wore masks with messages such as "No to racism".

At the neutral start, the drivers presented their jerseys.
Richard Carapaz (dotted jersey) and Enric Mas (white jersey) were only placeholders for Tadej Pogacar, who was allowed to wear the yellow jersey.

UAE-Team Emirates was not actually the strongest team in the peloton, but won four stages - more than any other team.
This was mainly due to Pogacar, who won three stages.

The tour organizers headed by boss Christian Prudhomme were probably very satisfied on Sunday evening.
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, with more than 10,000 new infections in France in some cases, the tour made it to Paris within 24 hours.

The Champs-Élysée then belonged to the sprinters - despite a four-man escape group.
Last year Caleb Ewan won here, but this time he had no chance.
In contrast, Sam Bennett lived up to his green jersey and took his second stage win on this tour.

One of the discoveries on this tour was the Swiss Marc Hirschi, who often stayed in escape groups.
Once he failed in the sprint against Julian Alaphilippe, then after a long solo ride in the Pyrenees against Pogacar.
"Hirschi" did not give up and then stormed to his first victory on the twelfth and, at 218 kilometers, longest stage of the tour.
For his constant attacks, the 22-year-old received the red number as the most combative driver of the Tour of France.

Peter Sagan was actually considered the favorite for the green jersey because he usually gets over the mountains well and can usually win a lot of points in intermediate sprints.
But this year Sam Bennett had the faster legs and was dragged through the Pyrenees and Alps by his teammates.
He was the first Irishman since Sean Kelly in 1989 to get the points.

Tadej Pogacar won the young professionals rating.
At the age of 21, he is the second youngest winner in the history of the Tour de France.
Only Henri Cornet was younger than 19 in 1904.

Tadej Pogacar was also able to take home the mountain jersey.

Pogacar was even given a trophy.
Competitor Roglic (left) didn’t seem unhappy despite losing the overall lead the day before.
And Richie Porte (r.) Was very happy about third place.
The Australian made it onto the podium for the first time in his tenth participation - after so many years without a podium, nobody had made it into the top three.
Now, like his colleagues, he will probably be happy to come home.
