Turin has awakened in traffic: cars have returned to whizzing in large quantities through the streets of the historic center in what, with the start of Phase 2, has become the peak hour again. Marking the difference from the pre-Coronavirus era are the shops, which remain closed with the only exception of the minimarkets and a few bars and cafes that practice food delivery. Most passersby on the street wear masks. Runners and dog owners wasted no time and immediately set foot in the Valentino Park, which weeks of closure to the public have transformed into a lush forest. That Phase 2 is not a "free everyone" reminds the police officers who, towards Piazza Vittorio Veneto, check a boy with a backpack and have him sign the self-certification.
