A Pussy Riot sentenced to 6 years for a tweet about war - Breaking news. A Russian court has sentenced the activist of the opposition collective 'Pussy Riot', Lucy Shtein, in absentia.

Shtein left Russia 2 years ago. The criminal case was initiated over a March 2022 tweet in which Shtein commented on an alleged video showing Ukrainian soldiers apparently shooting Russian prisoners in the legs. The prosecution had asked for 8 and a half years of imprisonment, a rule introduced in Russia to ban criticism of the invasion of Ukraine.
