Sepsis is an abnormal response of our body prey to an infection by a virus, a bacteria, a parasite, a fungus... Ordinarily, when we are contaminated by a pathogen, the body develops inflammation, it is a response physiological which aims to rid us of the intruder. In the vast majority of cases, this happens correctly, without complications. The majority of people who develop sepsis do not suffer any complications. It is estimated that 80,000 people in France die from the disease every year. The number of deaths from Sars is expected to rise to 100,000 in the next few years.
