Andrea Saltini was attacked by a masked individual who tried to attack a painting described as blasphemous by traditionalist Catholics. The diocese of Carpi, north of Modena, offered its full support to Andrea Saltini, condemning this “unprecedented act of violence” The artist's works are exhibited in a church of the diocesan museum.
Since its inauguration in early March, the exhibition entitled Gratia plena ( “Full of grace” ) has sparked controversy.
