The choice is again, in some way, a nod to the Spanish textile and fashion industry. As Isabel Ferrer narrates in her chronicle about the gala dinner held at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, the Dutch monarchs thanked the Spanish Royal Family for helping them at a complicated moment in their lives. ”Last year, circumstances caused [our eldest daughter, Amalia] to reside in Madrid. From there she was able to continue her studies at the University of Amsterdam. All of this was possible thanks to the affectionate dedication of a large number of her and Their Majesties' fellow citizens," the Dutch queen said.
