[HIGHLIGHTS] Europeans: at the RN, Thierry Mariani hangs on while waiting for the Bardella list to be sealed

Thierry Mariani is known for his assertive pro-Russian positions. The MEP, from LR, has not yet been reconfirmed on the list.

He will find out on May 1 in Perpignan when the first 35 names are made public. "The only truth in politics is when something is announced," he says cautiously. The former LR MEP remains Marine Le Pen's biggest poaching target. He only learned of his position in January, four months after having secretly talked with Le Pen. He says he has not received a call from the leader telling him that he would not be in an eligible position. But unlike some of his outgoing RN MEP colleagues, he hasn't been told that he won't be in the European Parliament in 2019. He has made up his mind that he wants to run for a seat in the French National Assembly for the Republican Party. He is currently third on Jordan Bardella's list for the European elections in May.
