Haiti: more than 170 French people and 70 foreigners evacuated aboard French army helicopters. The evacuees, who are “in a vulnerable situation”, were transferred aboard a national navy vessel and then transported to Martinique.
Canada has also chartered helicopters to evacuate its nationals living in Haiti wishing to leave the country. Haiti, already the victim of a very serious political and security crisis, has been plagued by renewed violence since the beginning of the month. Several gangs have joined forces to attack strategic locations in Port-au-Prince.
