After Norway and Ireland, Spain wants to convince the UN to recognize Palestine. Madrid is campaigning for Palestine to become a full member of the UN.

After the uncompromising condemnation last November, of Israel's excesses in its war in Gaza, it is now a question, Sanchez repeats, of "passing words... and not words." The UN Security Council is expected to vote on Palestine's admission to the UN on Thursday. The vote will be held in New York on September 14. The UN will then decide whether or not to accept Palestine as a member state, and if so, by how much. The decision will be made by the Security Council at a later date, and the vote will take place in front of a joint session of the United Nations Security Council.
