However, experts point out that many older adults know little about STDs. Although older people may have a harder time clearing infections, medical experts noted that doctors need to do a better job of discussing safe sex with older patients. Among postmenopausal women, the vaginal lining is more prone to tearing, making it easier for an infection to develop.
