Spain is one of the top travel destinations for Germans every year. But where tourists are looking for relaxation, locals wouldn't necessarily book their trip.

The holiday home booking portal HomeToGo has identified six insider tips in Spain that Spaniards love to visit - but that are hardly on the radar of German holidaymakers. Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon is just behind Ribadesella in 16th place among Spaniards' favorite travel destinations in their homeland. The province doesn't even make it into the "best" 2,500 holiday resorts in Germany, where it is ranked 479th among German tourists. The Stone Age cave paintings there are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town of Alquézar at the foothills of the Pyrenees is an important stop on the Way of St. James, the "Camino de Santiago" and the Castillo de Loarre, one of Spain's most beautiful castles. The entire region around Huesca has wonderful excursion destinations - from the picturesque town of al Quézar to the town of Jaca.
