Summer 2024 marks a new increase in tourist flows in Italy. 35.5 million foreigners would opt for an Italian destination (+5% on 2023), equal to just over half of the overall figure of expected arrivals.

A more optimistic scenario which could consolidate the overtaking even compared to the pre-pandemic period of 2019 with an increase in both arrivals (+6.8%) and overnight stays (+7.0%). "The upcoming summer season promises to be promising for Italian tourism, with an estimated growth of both arrivals and presences," says DemosKopika president Raffaele Rio. "It is more necessary than ever to adopt not only reactive but above all proactive strategies to meet the expectations of tourists, ensuring that the sector not only grows in quantity but also in quality," he adds. "Italy is also among the destinations with the lowest rate of tourist inflation, but the growing costs in critical areas like air transport, however, risk absorbing almost entirely the benefits of greater tourist spending."
