The Schleswig-Holstein Consumer Center (VZSH) warns urgently against accepting fake calls from supposed consumer advocates. "We don't yet know whether this is 'just' about obtaining sensitive information such as bank details or whether overpriced insurance contracts are being swindled," says Stephan Göhrmann, spokesman for the consumer advice center.

There are also other known numbers that should not be trusted, warns the center. The scam is being carried out by criminals from Hamburg, says the center's spokesman, who are using different telephone numbers from Hamburg. The center urges people to be careful when calling consumer advice centers and to never give out personal data to fraudsters on their behalf. The number to call is 056818090265 and the telephone number to help consumers cancel a lottery subscription. The phone number to contact the Consumer Advice Center is 05 6818090264, and the number to cancel the lottery subscription is 568 18090265. The information to be disclosed involves sensitive personal information, the center warns.
