Claude Atcher is the former general director of the 2023 Rugby World Cup. He has filed a complaint asking an investigating judge to investigate the conditions of his dismissal.

In June 2022, the sports daily L'Équipe revealed in an article anonymous testimonies within the Public Interest Group (GIP) France 2023, under the influence of “management by terror” attributed to Claude Atcher and its leader office. In their articles, the Équipe's journalists relied on several reports, notably inspections and the GIP ethics committee, of which AFP was aware.
