tell me something
On the way to the sea father and son are flying through the night. Despite coffee, Dad is tired, but unfortunately not the child. It wants a story. Okay, there's such a thing ... a goat, Daddy remembers. And a goose. And then? The boy prefers to keep telling himself, because Dad yawns again. So the journey goes by while the two together continue to spin a crazy story.
A nocturnal story, imaginative and funny, immersed in atmospheric pictures. A really nice sleep book.

The foreign party
Winter in Japan. Little Allen has caught a cold. Is his mother so funny about that? No, she is homesick for a tradition from faraway California where she lived as a little girl. How can she give her son the Christmas feeling? Suddenly there is a small tree in unusual garb.
Review of a man on a small episode of his childhood. Beautiful pictures tell a simple story that you always want to read because it is so strange and touching.

Chocolate is not everything
Everything is in butter for King Eddi in Eddiland. He leads his kingdom without suspicion, with a friendly, wasteful hand. Thus, his subjects are unfamiliar with lies and they love their king for the chocolate, which he buys from his pocket money and lets rain over the people.
But at some point the piggy bank is empty and the evil Nurbison from the kingdom next door threatens him with a cow, which he disguised as a monster. Luckily, Eddi, his jester Megan and Minister Jill have a really good plan.
Crazy story in the best British children's book tradition with many illustrations.

What animals do
Such an uncle Theo I would have liked as well. A guy with a green sofa who takes kids seriously by devoting himself to them and making up stupid stories for them. For example, the swab, big as a football field, the sloth too lazy to yawn, or the nothing and the chickens laying hard-boiled eggs in the desert because of the heat.
Amusing stories for in between with many illustrations that seem a bit wooden, but certainly do their service in the sense of history.

Unbelievable
Hach, the time! Sometimes she stops, sometimes she flies. Why? The variety of topics shows how important this phenomenon has always been for humans. This richly illustrated nonfiction book certainly offers surprising aspects and explanations even for adults.
This is not just about watches, navigation or why the Jewish calendar is different from the Gregorian, but also about why it's hard to live in the present and cell phones are time-lapseed, which is a flower clock and how monks used to be to wake up a candle.
The book also explains Einstein's Theory of Relativity, looks into space, explains various time travels and time paradoxes, and ends with a request to the children to write a letter to their future self. What a beautiful idea.

My name is Wolkenschlag. Harald Wolkenschlag
Even if grandma does not like it: Harald is a tough private detective, equipped with tricks such as meaningful hawking, notepad and hat. And no matter how awkward grandma finds his hat, he stays on it. For his calling Harald gives everything. And then it can happen that he has to drive without a ticket for investigations in the big humbug to find a missing sheep. Luckily he meets her colleague Trix, without whom he would not have found Schnucki McGäffin again.
Jana Scheerer has created a young Marlowe and lets him report on his first case in a mixture of northern German and detective sound. Of course, a woman should not be missing - one suspects a weakness for a certain Wiebke ... Funny and exciting!

Sled dogs instead of scooters
The reading of this book arouses longing for a dog sled tour. Or at least after a walk in the snow; because she plays in the snowy north of Canada. Here, 13-year-old Jeremy meets an old man who lives close to the Cree traditions of their ancestors. Through the man Jeremy develops a passion for sled dogs and gets courage to pursue his own interests.
A story about the life of a teenager, in which the school finally has a supporting role and it's about the really important things: self-esteem, family history, friendship - and dogs.

About subterranean
Suppose there lived beings in the mantle who had magical powers and superior technology. And suppose one of them - a troll - made it through the earth's crust, was shot by a bad man and accidentally taken home by two 11-year-olds. So what?
Fortunately, the twins Beckett and Myles Fowl are relatively well prepared for such absurd situations thanks to their different talents and wonder so quickly about nothing. After all, her father is the former super crook Artemis Fowl.
Eoin Colfer had a huge success in 2001 with the Artemis Fowl series. Now it continues with his 11-year-old sons. A complex fantasy story peppered with intelligent humor (Thanks to the translator Claudia Feldmann!), Which always comes back to crazy ways and yet does not lose the thread.
