Charlize Theron does notable work in a film about sexual harassment • It's a shame that the movie is Hollywood and sentimental and not engrossed in movie memory

Charlize Theron does a notable job in a film about the sexual harassment incident that happened on Fox News • But unlike his name, the film itself doesn't explode on screen

  • John Lithgow and Charlize Theron in "Bomb"

Three determined and courageous blonde women go to war against bosses who harassed, exploited and humiliated them with a "bomb" - a backstage drama about the culture of sexual harassment and toxic masculinity in the American media world, and the conservative Fox News television network in particular.

Although the film is based on real events and is mostly about real characters, director Jay Roach ("Austin Powers", "Trembo") follows films like "The Money Machine" and "The Vice President" (both of Adam McKay), and puts On the screen is a frantic and very self-conscious creation, which often wink, clever and speak directly to the audience.

The subject matter is unbelievably important, Roach's intentions are good, and the result includes a few moments that can be called successful, but "Bomb" - which dances all along the fine line between entertaining and educating - is too diffused, sentimental and Hollywood to be a truly complex and meaningful film. There is no moment in him that you will remember, it is not thought provoking, and it will not convince anyone of anything.

The highlight of the film is Charlize Theron, who does a notable job as newswoman Megan Kelly. Kelly became a news story in her own right when she quarreled with presidential candidate Donald Trump in one of the Republican clashes leading up to the 2016 election. Theron, who helped make-up and prosthetics to help Gary Oldman become Winston Churchill, completely disappears into the picture Some of it is one of the most talented actresses today.

Nicole Kidman, on the other hand, who plays Gretchen Carlson - a suitor who sued Fox after being harassed and fired from her networking job - delivers an understated and fragile performance, the kind we've already received many times before, while Margo Robbie, who plays a fictional character based on various testimonials of the harassed webmasters, mostly You are required to be naive and stunned, and you can say that she fulfills her task with the required skill.

The one who sits here on the harp slot is John Lithgow ("The Personals of the Kind"), who wears a fat suit on his body to populate the image of Fox News founder and director of Fox News, Roger Ailes. But in fact, almost all the men in Fox News are portrayed as villains to some extent: as sexually harassed themselves, or as allowing sexual harassment culture to continue. Not too many of the women, by the way.

Charles Randolph's operatic script often bounces between his three main characters, while backing up his explosive claims with a wealth of data and explanations. But Roach finds it difficult to argue the aforementioned events with dramatic momentum, and although the three heroines spend a lot of time deliberating and making fateful decisions, there is no stress here either. Not even a drop.

The fact that the film starts repeating at a relatively early stage certainly contributes to the general feeling of laxity. Here the blondes again ride the elevator together and silently examine each other. Here's Kidman again looking at her cute kids to remind herself what she's fighting for. Here is Theron again spacing around in search of troubled facts ready to testify. It's hard to call it an effective movie theater. Despite its name, "Bomb" is not a movie that explodes.
