A beaming Harry with Baby Archie in his arms, both well wrapped up in winter clothes: that's how the royals from Canada greet them. For the New Year, Prince Harry (35) and Duchess Meghan (38) have shared a photo series with pictures from 2019 on their Instagram account. For example, from Archie's birth in May, his baptism and the young family's trip to southern Africa in autumn. The highlight is the father-son photo with water and rolling hills in the background. "We wish you all a very happy New Year and thank you for your continued support!" Wrote the royal couple.

Harry and Meghan had taken a family vacation of several weeks to Canada at the end of the year, where Meghan had lived and shot for the US series "Suits" for seven years. They did not celebrate Christmas as usual at Queen Elizabeth II at the Sandringham country estate, but instead spent the festival with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland. Queen Elizabeth apparently understood this, a spokesman said: "The decision (... ...) will be supported by Her Majesty the Queen."

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan: Christmas without the Queen

The royal family usually spends the festive season with the queen. In Sandringham, the royals always attend church service in the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. Harry's older brother William and his wife Kate had already spent Christmas with Kate's parents instead of in Sandringham.

Little Archie was already the focus of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's Christmas card this year. "We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From our family to yours," says the black and white card published by the Queen's Commonwealth Trust. Harry is president of the charity.

Harry and Meghan had announced months ago that they would take a break from their royal duties. One reason they gave was the constant siege by the tabloid press. Meghan said: "When I met my husband, my friends were really happy for me because I was so happy. But my British friends said: 'He's definitely great - but you shouldn't marry him, the tabloids will destroy your life "Harry had also spoken openly about disagreements between him and his brother William.
