Strike in transport: blockades in Nanterre and the Sorbonne to demand the postponement of the partial

Students demand alternatives such as homework so that those who cannot go to school are not disadvantaged

Several Ile-de-France university sites were blocked or disrupted on Monday, students demanding the postponement of partials, or the organization of online partials or homework so that those who could not go to the examination centers are not disadvantaged due to the strike in transport.

At the University of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), two partials were canceled this Monday morning due to walkouts and too few students: a management exam and another in history of art. A partial law also could not be completed, since students settled in the amphi to hold a general meeting.

This meeting, which brought together around 300 people, voted to block the university and reiterates its request to postpone the partials, saying that "the conditions are not optimal for ensuring exams serenely".

"There is a break in equality," says Imane Ouelhadj, president of the Unef Nanterre. The most modest students are the most penalized because they are the most distant, and they cannot afford a taxi. ” A new general meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:30 am, with a call to those most mobilized "to block the examination rooms".

Marie is one of the students who saw their partial law interrupted this Monday morning: “We started at 12:10 pm when it was planned at 10:30 am, and I was only able to work for half an hour, fulminates- she. It is really not correct. The students speak of solidarity but there is none ”.

The president of the university, who would not wish to postpone, online partials or homework, offered accommodation in a gymnasium for students who could not make the trip. A "joke" for the UNEF, which calls for a new mobilization.

The Panthéon-Sorbonne University (Paris I), which had already canceled or postponed certain partials in December, had previously announced on its website a postponement of the exams which were scheduled to start on Monday. These will be spread over three weeks, between January 13 and February 1.

But the UNEF, which rejects this solution and calls for alternatives such as homework, called for a rally in front of the Sorbonne at 1 p.m. and at the Zamansky Tower in Jussieu at 2 p.m. on Monday.
