He filmed his actions: A Manchester court has sentenced a 36-year-old for the sexual abuse of 48 men. The police assume that there are significantly more victims.

A serial rapist has to go to prison in the UK for at least 30 years. That was decided by a court in Manchester. The 36-year-old was sentenced to life imprisonment for sexual abuse of 48 men. Reynhard S. filmed his unconscious victim raping her.

The police assume that the perpetrator committed offenses against more than 190 men. However, many of them have so far not been identified. The victims may have no memory, it said after the verdict.

Public video recordings showed that S. was often out and about in the area around Manchester nightclubs in the early hours of the morning in order to find his victims. They were usually young, drunk and alone.

According to the police, S. had committed the crimes for more than ten years. The student from Indonesia therefore promised his victims that they could get a drink or a place to sleep in his apartment and charge their cell phones. There he stunned the men.

"Called a monster"

According to the prosecutor, the fact that the rapist found so many victims was also due to his harmless appearance: the 36-year-old appears very young and is slim. Investigators consider that he had his apartment in downtown Manchester to be a calculation to find many victims.

"You are an evil serial sex offender who took advantage of young men who came into town and wanted nothing more than to have a nice evening with their friends," said Judge Suzanne Goddard. "One of your victims called you a monster." Given the crimes, that's a good description.

The perpetrator, on the other hand, had claimed that the men had voluntarily filmed in sex games in which they pretended to be dead. The prosecutor described this as absurd, especially since some of the victims snore audibly on the recordings.

The investigators suspect that the sex offender gave the young men alcoholic drinks containing a substance such as GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid; so-called co-drops). It can make you euphoric, but acts like an anesthetic at higher doses. S. was only exposed when one of his victims awoke early.
