"I was lucky enough to live in a time when you were 14 when you considered whether the Beatles or the Stones were better - and not whether you had to save the world or the forest," says Thomas Gottschalk at the SPIEGEL stage.

The entertainer celebrates his 70th birthday in May - and he is concerned with aging. Thomas Gottschalk recently published his autobiography "Herbstbunt". It is about an "old guy who fears getting older".

In an interview with SPIEGEL editor Volker Weidermann, Gottschalk explains why shitstorms weren't a problem in the 1990s, what he liked about literary critic Marcel Reich-Ranicki - and why age often turns into a crisis for people.

The new episode of "SPIEGEL Live" was recorded as part of the event series "DER SPIEGEL in discussion at the Frankfurt Book Fair".
