(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 7 - The headquarters of the Coalitioninternation operating in Iraq "is currently planning a partial redeployment of assets outside of Baghdad".
This was stated by the Defense General Staff, specifying that this "does not represent an interruption of the mission and commitments" by Italy with international partners and that the decision was taken at "international coalition level". The pause of the training activities and the possible redeployment of the Italian military from the Iraqi areas of operation, in fact underlines the Defense General Staff, "is part of the contingency plans for the safeguarding of the personnel employed" and depend "only on the security measures adopted": therefore "not they represent an interruption of the mission and of the commitments made with the coalition ".
The General Staff also recalls that "the alert states and security measures are decided at the international level in coordination with the various partner nations".
