(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 7 - The smoke from the fires, which are ravaging Australia, has traveled more than 12,000 kilometers and arrived yesterday, clearly visible, in the skies of Chile and Argentina, without however endangering the health of their inhabitants. To report it are several sites of local newspapers, such as ilClarin and La Tercera.
The smoke has been seen mainly in the central area of Chile, where a mist has covered the sky, and it is likely that it will remain in these conditions until today, according to the Chilean Meteorological Directorate. The cloud of smoke made the sun appear redder. It is located at 6000 meters above sea level and should not descend to the surface. The only consequence, at the moment, is a reduction of ultraviolet radiation, since it functions as a sort of 'cap'. Similar situation also in Argentina, where the National Meteorological Service showed on Twitter the images of the satellites in which it is seen that the smoke was carried by air fronts from west to east.
