ROME - The triumphal march of Tolo Tolo continues and makes the box office fly high: after breaking the record in the history of Italian cinema, the new film by Checco Zalone, produced by 8.7 million euros, made its debut in theaters from Taodue and distributed by Medusa, touches 30 million in five days of programming on the screens (1286 as well as those monitored by Cinetel) and drags the box office to 30.6 million, hitting + 22% on a week ago and + 74% compared to 2019 (when the total proceeds had been 17.5 million).

A boon for exhibitors and a confirmation of Zalone's personal success, for the first time behind the camera, still in the role of medium / mediocre Italian, this time dealing with immigration issues, however tackled with a less comical attitude than usual and more thoughtful. Behind 'San Checco' in the top ten of the weekend there is Jumanji: The Next Level, with just over 2 million (and 9.9 million in total), followed on the third step of the podium by Pinocchio, the re-reading of the fairy tale signed by Matteo Garrone with Roberto Benigni-Geppetto, with 1 million 760 thousand euros (and over 13.4 million overall). Ferzan Ozpetek's new film The Goddess of Fortune goes back to fourth position, slightly exceeding one million euros over the weekend (6.5 million in total), then the last chapter of the Star Wars saga, The rise of Skywalker (953 thousand euros, 12.3 million in total). He slips on the sixth step of the ranking The first Christmas of Ficarra and Picone (926 thousand euros over the weekend), which with a total of 14.7 million, however, is starting to occupy the second place among the most viewed Italian films of the parties after Tolo Tolo clear, again, of the Befana day, for a very important appointment with the cinema).

New entry in seventh position was the dramatic 18 gifts (801 thousand euros of takings), then the phenomenon Frozen II - The secret of Arendelle, animated film with the highest grossing ever, at 1.3 billion dollars worldwide, than in Italy brings home another 415 thousand euros over the weekend and travels over 18.6 million. The brave: Sorry we missed you by Ken Loach (405 thousand euros) and Playmobil -The Movie (263 thousand euros) close the top ten. Overall, thanks to the boom of Zalone, collections fly to 30 million 567 thousand euros, + 22% over the past weekend (25 million 143 thousand) and + 74% over a year ago (17 million 503 thousand).
