(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 7 - A violent fire destroyed the London concert hall Koko, in the northern district of Camden, one of the best known in the capital, last night: according to reports from the BBC online, the roof of the structure was completely devoured by flames . There are no reports of victims or injuries.
About 60 firefighters managed to tame the fire around 3:30 this morning (Italian time), made fire chief Jon Lewis.
The concert hall, which was closed for renovation, was inaugurated in 1900 under the name of Camden Theater, then it became The Music Machine and then Camden Palace and Camden Hippodrome, before adopting the current name of Koko.
Over the years, groups such as Coldplay, the Rolling Stones, the Clash and singers such as Madonna and Prince have performed on its stage. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
