A new biopic on Bob Dylan is in the pipeline. Produced by Fox, "Going Electric" will be directed by James Mangold. To incarnate the famous singer of folk rock, author and composer of dozens of planetary successes like "Blowin 'in the wind" and "Mr Tambourine Man", it is the young French-American actor Timothée Chalamet who is approached.
According to the American magazine Rolling Stone, the action of the film will begin when Dylan arrives in New York. He will stage other great figures of American folk music from the 1950s and 1960s, such as Joan Baez, who was Dylan's companion, Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie.
Already a biopic on Johnny Cash
Director James Mangold had already signed a noticeable biopic on a big name in the American pop music scene: "Walk the Line", released in 2005, retraces a slice of the career of country star Johnny Cash, and his love with singer June Carter.
Timothée Chalamet, 24, is currently playing the "Daughters of Doctor March" by Greta Gerwig, which hit theaters on January 1. Noticed in France in "Call me by your name" (2018), he embodies the young sovereign Henri V of England in "The King", broadcast on Netflix.
Considered the new darling of Hollywood, he will have a lot to do to match the performance of Australian actress Cate Blanchett, who had achieved a striking composition by lending his features to the character of Bob Dylan in 2007 in "I'm not there ", Of Todd Haynes.
