- Steps forward for the European research network that develops tools and methodologies to improve the quality, safety and traceability of agri-food products at the service of businesses and consumers. This is the Metrefood-Ri research infrastructure, coordinated by ENEA, involving over 2,200 researchers from 48 of the major institutions in 18 European countries.
In Lisbon, the preparatory phase of the network (the Metrefood Preparatory Phase) has started, towards an optimal organizational and managerial level, also through the assumption of its own legal identity. The name of the network is due precisely to metrology, the science that deals with detection measurement techniques, a fundamental tool for innovation and supply chain certification; two key issues for competitiveness.
Selected among the excellence in the "Health & Food" sector by the European Strategic Forum for Research Infrastructures (Esfri), Merefood, explains Enea, addresses the world of research, inspection and control agencies, operators in the agro-industrial sector but also to consumers, offering excellent services in terms of quality, safety, traceability and authenticity of food. At the same time as the Lisbon event, the European inter-ministerial group that supports the infrastructure will also meet, with the participation of the representatives of the competent ministries of Italy with MIUR, Belgium, Greece, North Macedonia, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland and Turkey.
