The secrets of an unloved queen told by Stéphane Bern, the esoteric murders by Jean-Christophe Grangé, Tom Cruise and alie

HISTORY. Marie-Antoinette, why so much hatred?

At 9:05 p.m. on France 3. Why have Marie-Antoinette and her close friends caused so many fiery reactions to the court over the years? What made him so unpopular, both among the nobles and the rest of the population? How did we get to its public execution on October 16, 1793? Stéphane Bern invites us this Monday evening to enter the intimacy of Marie-Antoinette of Austria throughout her life.

The program tells us about its existence, from its arrival in Versailles, because of a political alliance in which its choice does not count for nothing, at its death in Paris, in full Revolution, like symbol of the excesses of the nobility. But she focuses on her relationships with her favorites (her friend Mme de Polignac, the Swede Axel de Fersen…), and on the way in which this queen who upset the codes of the royal court led them to their loss.

The interesting episode traces the Queen's journey chronologically. The story is clear, accessible and well presented. Anecdotes about hobbies (comedy, music) or the behavior of the monarch and his favorites (often casual and against the grain of the times) make the historical figures cited much more alive, more real. Most of the places presented are obviously magnificent (Palace of Versailles, Trianon, etc.).

However, if the beginning and the end of the show are really captivating, by returning to little known or on the contrary very significant elements of the history of France, the central part counts a certain number of time outs.

"Secrets of History. Marie-Antoinette's favorites ” , magazine presented by Stéphane Bern (1h52).

SERIES. Small esoteric murder

At 9:05 pm on France 2. "Les Rivières pourpres" did not miss its return last week: the first two episodes of this second season attracted up to 4.7 million viewers, for an audience share of About 20%. Tonight, Commissioner Niemans and his assistant, Lieutenant Delaunay, find themselves faced with a new thorny case, combining crime, esotericism and troubled past in the leaden sky of the Ardennes.

Normal, it is Jean-Christophe Grangé, the author of the novel "Purple Rivers", who wrote this double episode bringing together some of his favorite themes. He is also behind half of the episodes of this new season. And, as is often the case with him, behind the facts are hidden unexpected dramatic springs which are the salt of the investigation. As for the duo Olivier Marchal and Erika Sainte, it does not disappoint, on the contrary the alchemy between the two characters, patent since the first season, begins to take on a new scale.

DOCUMENTARY. The rue de Trévise is not cured

A year later, the inhabitants of the rue de Trévise in Paris remain haunted by the explosion that left four people dead.

At 11:05 p.m. on France 3. The inhabitants of rue de Trévise, in the ninth arrondissement of Paris, are still haunted by this morning of Saturday, January 12, 2019. That day, the bakery located at number 6 was blown away by a violent explosion caused by a gas leak. Four people lost their lives, including a Spanish tourist who stayed in the neighboring hotel and two firefighters. About sixty people were injured, including ten very seriously.

Mallorie, Raphaël, Danielle, Dominique, Kevin, Zineb, Vanessa and Imene lived in the building or those next door. They tell how, in the space of a second, their street became "a war zone ...". "When I left the room, the window collapsed on the bed," says Vanessa, miraculously.

This neat documentary shows gaping holes, since the ceilings, floors and windows have disintegrated. Like the souls of the inhabitants, the buildings are far from being repaired. Six of them remain barred.

Cellist, this father was kidnapped at the age of 33, then sold to a brutal slave trader from the southern United States. His ordeal lasted twelve years. Hungry, whipped, he survived and regained his freedom.

Sequences of striking realism earned the feature three Oscars in 2014, including that of the best film and that of the best actress in a supporting role, attributed to Lupita Nyong'o. The film has won over the world, attracting 1.7 million viewers to France.

SCIENCE FICTION. Tom Cruise against the aliens

The opposition between Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt brings some crazy moments to "Edge of Tomorrow" ./David James

At 9:15 p.m. on TMC. Save the world, Tom Cruise can do it. It is even his recurring job in the cinema. In "Edge of Tomorrow", the Hollywood star sets out again in the coal in what however resembles a "Mission: Impossible". For once, the actor embodies an antihero par excellence, Major Bill Cage, stashed in the US Army, to whom his superior orders to leave with a pipe breaker in front of a horde of extraterrestrials armed to the teeth, the Mimics , who reduced European capitals to ashes and exterminated millions of humans ...

"Edge of Tomorrow" brilliantly combines genres. Concentrated in action to a very big show without using special effects, the film offers battles worthy of the best war films and sometimes comical twists and turns, linked to its scenario inspired by the brilliant "A day without end", with Bill Murray . The opposition between Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt also gives rise to welcome wacky moments.
