(ANSA) - TEGUCIGALPA, JANUARY 16 - Hundreds of migrants from San Pedro Sula in Honduras entered Guatemala last night on a "journey of hope" which, through Mexico, should bring them to the border with the United States, doing so to leave lecarovane from Central America, after a few months' break following the tug of war between the USA and Mexico.
It is, writes the newspaper El Pais di Tegucigalpa, of at least 400 men, women and children, who at first were blocked by the police at the Corinthian border, but then managed to cross the border at some point, entering forcefully into Guatemalan territory .
This group is the vanguard of a contingent of around 1,000 migrants who gathered on Tuesday in the del Pedro bus terminal area of San Pedro Sula. The remainder will reach the Honduran-Guatemalan border in one day.
