Compared to a few years ago, fashion, however slowly, is becoming more inclusive. Dedicated lines, curvy models on the catwalk, even a recent line of DIY sweaters, even wedding dresses: nothing resolved, but the curvy taboo begins to crack. It is time to confirm the culture of plurality of beauty models against bullying and discrimination : certainly not an easy thing but it is certainly a battle of civilization in the name of body posivity.
Among the various significant examples of a journey there is the story of Curvy Pride which was born when a hundred women on June 1st 2013 made the human writing "Curvy" in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna to send a message. That flash mob was a declaration of soft pride, two more followed, one always in Bologna in 2014 and the other in Milan in 2015. Hence the idea of creating an Association that would not disperse the wave of revenge , joy and desire to fight for the people who actively participated in the initiatives. It continues to be a point of reference for women and men who want to regain possession of their relationship with their body without being conditioned by the judgment of others to live their life with joy and fullness . Through events, workshops, blogs, books and much more, it helps people to accept and love each other, experiencing "the novelties and the extraordinary things in life", to understand that everyone has the right to be happy, always. There are many projects and initiatives on the horizon, such as the book " My resilience in a soft body" by Marianna Lo Preiato.
In 2020 two new editions of Pizzaecurve are scheduled, an event that involves thousands of people who meet at the pizzeria on the same day at the same time but at the same time in many Italian cities, and beyond. The aim is to get to know each other, to get out of social networks to really meet and to say that eating a pizza every now and then does not hurt at all.
Curvy Pride, of which Marianna is President, is "giving voice to the many women, but also to the men, who have lived and live on their skin the weight of a story that hurts more than a disease from which you cannot heal. Whether it's non-acceptance, discrimination, forced silence, shame, bullying, marginalization, loneliness, sexual diversity, uneasiness, abandonment or even just rebellion against the stereotypes that complicate our existence from good morning to goodnight ". This is why Marianna's story is the first chapter of a bigger project: Tell Curvy Pride. An initiative aimed at all those who want to get involved and share their stories with the Curvy Pride Association, in collaboration with Giraldi Editore, "to write together another chapter of liberation, from oneself, from one's fears, from the look inquisitorial to others. You don't have to make your loneliness exceptional. You have to normalize your fears and join hands to form a big heart. This is Curvy Pride. This is the possibility of being resilient together. " As Dr. Valeria Strada, psychologist and relational psychotherapist, writes in the afterword "Marianna of her fragility has made it a strong point". This force is now also a starting point.
