A German nurse is suspected of administering morphine to 5 premature babies in a clinic in Ulm, Baden-Wuerttemberg. The woman was subjected to pre-trial detention in prison yesterday, investigators said at an ongoing press conference. The presence of morphine has been found in the urine of the young.
The woman, on whom she is now investigating the crimes of manslaughter and serious injuries, has rejected the accusations. According to the reconstruction of the investigators, on December 20 last year, the five babies manifested, all in the same hours, respiratory problems. Initially it was thought of an infection, but then the analyzes on the little ones revealed the presence of morphine in the blood. The nurse was arrested as a precautionary measure, the investigators explained at a press conference, because in light of the seriousness of the accusations, the escape period exists.
