In Piacenza, an investigation into contemporary Italian collecting (ANSA)


ROME - During the first weekend of February, there are many interesting exhibition events, from Newton's shots in Turin to the investigation of Italian collecting in Piacenza.

TURIN - "Helmut Newton. Works" is the title of the retrospective, scheduled from 30 January to 3 May, with which the GAM - Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Turin opens the 2020 exhibition season: 68 images are featured in the itinerary, from the seventies with the numerous covers for Vogue, up to the later work with the portrait of Leni Riefenstahl of 2000, which offer the public a broad overview of the talent of the great photographer.

MONZA - The Villa Reale welcomes "Japan. Land of geisha and samurai", to make a sort of initiatory journey in the Rising Sun: set up from 30 January to 2 June, the exhibition develops by themes - deepening numerous aspects relating to customs and to the traditional activities of the Japanese people - and presents to the public a selection of works dating from between the fourteenth and twentieth centuries, all from the collection of the collector Valter Guarnieri, to which are added some kimonos from the collection of the collector Lydia Manavello.

NUORO - The first European solo exhibition of the Angolan artist and activist Kiluanji Kia Henda, entitled "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven", arrives at MAN: scheduled from January 31 to March 1, the exhibition presents a series of sculptural and installation works that the artist created from scratch during his stay in Sardinia, alongside previously produced photographic works, revealing with his sensitivity the dissonant contradictions of the island.

MANTOVA - From February 1 to June 30 at Palazzo Te "Giulio Romano Experience": a highly spectacular multimedia exhibition that traces the career of the Mannerist master from Rome to Mantua, from Mantua to Europe, using virtual reality viewers, reality screens augmented, high definition projectors and proximity audio.

PARMA - At Palazzo Dalla Rosa Prati the multimedia exhibition "Van Gogh Multimedia & Friends": from January 31 to April 26 the portraits and self-portraits, still lifes and landscapes of the painter come to life and allow you to immerse yourself in his creative universe thanks to the reproduction on high quality multimedia supports. Some masterpieces by authors such as Monet, Degas and Renoir from private collections also complete the exhibition.

PIACENZA - Over 150 works, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos and installations by authors such as Piero Manzoni, Maurizio Cattelan, Marina Abramović, Tomás Saraceno, Andy Warhol, Bill Viola, Dan Flavin, William Kentridge, from 18 art collections , among the most important in Italy: it is the exhibition "We are the revolution. Contemporary Italian collectibles", set up at the XNL Piacenza Contemporanea cultural center and at the Ricci Oddi Modern Art Gallery from 1 February to 24 May, which documents the phenomenon of collecting in its entirety through the events of over fifty years.

ROME - The Museum of Rome in Trastevere hosts the exhibition "Ara Güler. Shots in Turkey", scheduled from 30 January to 3 May and organized by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey: 45 iconic photographs of Istanbul and 37 portraits of important personalities from the world of art, literature, science and politics signed by the Turkish photographer who died in 2018, named one of the seven best photographers in the world, awarded the prestigious title of "Master of Leica" and nicknamed for his works "the Eye of Istanbul" .
