220 buyers at Buywine, China is missing

(ANSA) - FLORENCE - Over 220 buyers from all over the world, with the exception of China due to the Coronavirus situation, will meet 260 Tuscan wineries selected for the tenth edition of Buywine in Florence, B2b appointment dedicated to the world of the wine scheduled for 7 and 8 February at the Fortezza da Basso, which will be followed by the week of the Tuscany Previews which will start on 15 February with the 'Primanteprima' appointment.

Foreign buyers come from over 50 countries: Angola, Bulgaria, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Malaysia, Portugal, Romania and Uruguay are among the new entries this year. Consolidated presence by buyers from the United States, whose number is growing, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. 15 operators from China initially expected are not participating in Buywine due to the Coronavirus situation. As underlined during the presentation of the event, this year the companies with organic or biodynamic certification present increased by 5%, reaching 108 wineries, 41.6% of the total. Overall Tuscany can boast 59 thousand hectares of vineyards: 95.8% of Tuscan wines are DOP, a higher percentage than the national one, still at 62%.

After Buywine there will be space for 'PrimAnprima', a regional collective that opens the week of the Tuscany Previews (15-22 February) during which the Tuscan wine consortia present the new vintages that will be on the market.

The appointments are promoted by the Tuscany Region together with the Chamber of Commerce of Florence and organized by PromoFirenze (special company of the Chamber of Commerce of Florence) and Fondazione Sistema Toscana. Among the novelties the opening of the event to the city of Florence with the film festival 'Ciak and wine' which sees three themed film evenings and guided tastings at Cinema La Compagnia (8, 9 and 10 February).
