Stiftung Warentest tested 14 dishwasher tablets from Aldi, dm and Co. The result leaves something to be desired.

Stiftung Warentest tested 14 dishwasher tablets from Aldi, dm and Co. The result leaves something to be desired.

  • Stiftung Warentest again examined dishwasher tabs.
  • The cleaning performance of the tabs was the most important criterion in the test.
  • The result shows that only a few funds keep what they promise, some fail completely.

Stiftung Warentest tested the cleaning performance of dishwasher tabs in around 10,000 washing hours and 3,000 dishes. The focus was on 14 multitabs - because according to the manufacturers, they can do a lot: clean, rinse and dry. However, hardly any of the tabs tested could keep the promise, as RUHR24.de * reports.

Stiftung Warentest takes a close look at dishwasher tabs

Both branded products and funds from supermarkets and drugstores were tested. The 14 dishwasher tabs included brands from Aldi , dm , Ecover , Frosch , Kaufland, Finish and Somat . The examiners from Stiftung Warentest were amazed at the result. Because not only the cleaning performance left a lot to be desired with most dishwasher tabs , some of them literally caused damage to the dishes.

As a result, none of the products was rated "very good". "Good" was therefore the highest award for dishwasher tabs in this test. The Stiftung Warentest was awarded six times.

Stiftung Warentest examines the cleaning power of dishwasher tabs

To test the cleaning power of the dishwasher tabs, dishes were soiled with tea, minced meat, egg yolk, cheese residues, starch or fat and then chased through the dishwasher . If the dishes came out of the machine clean, there was a plus. However, it was also examined how well the agents prevent limescale deposits, protect the dishes and how great the influence of the dishwasher tabs is on the environment.

These criteria were already the focus of Stiftung Warentest's test of dishwasher tabs last year. The terrifying thing: Little has changed in the results. Few detergents clean "well", none "very well" and some even fail completely. This year, the tabs of Aldi Süd , dm and Edeka performed very well. Expensive branded products, for example from Somat , only got the grade "satisfactory". And the Powerball Quantum tabs from Finish are only "sufficient". Some of the dishwasher tabs left dirt behind, others made the plates dull - and nobody really wants that.

Dishwasher tablets at Stiftung Warentest: This is the test winner

But a product gives hope: The test winner this year is from Kaufland . The dishwasher tabs "K-Classic-Dish-Cleaner-Tabs All in 1" do the best they can promise. According to the Stiftung Warentest , they are a real all-rounder: they made clean cutlery, protected the dishes and left no limescale or water stains. But why aren't Kaufland's tabs rated "very good"?

As in the other conventional dishwasher tabs , Stiftung Warentest found the silver preservative benzotriazole (BTA). That gave a point deduction with regard to the environmental impact of the funds. Because the chemical is suspected to have an impact on the hormonal system of organisms. In addition, BTA can hardly be broken down in sewage treatment plants - and can also be found in our drinking water.

Stiftung Warentest not only examines dishwasher tabs at regular intervals, but also repeatedly tests powder for the dishwasher , rinse aid or hand dishwashing liquid.

And here, too, the results always leave something to be desired. Either they do not keep their promise in terms of cleaning performance, leave thick streaks of grease on the glasses or trigger allergies through critical ingredients. This is far from clean.

Eco dishwasher tabs fail at Stiftung Warentest

And what about detergents and dishwasher tabs from supposed eco companies? Although they do not contain any environmentally harmful chemicals, they still fail at Stiftung Warentest . Why? Frosch and Ecover products left white deposits on the glasses, cleaned less well or clogged silver cutlery. They discolored the silver so much that the deposits on the precious metal could no longer be removed.

And that should annoy some customers quite a bit when Grandma's good silver cutlery suddenly comes out of the dishwasher in matt gold. In addition, material wear is not very sustainable.

Not always a brilliant achievement. According to @warentest material & #environment, dishwasher tabs are a burden! Https: //t.co/ap9ciReYFJ#test #tests #Testsberichte

And the eco brands also disappointed with the detergent. They all got the mark "poor" because they didn't really clean the dirty dishes. The reason for this is that the eco-cleaning agents usually rely on vegetable ingredients instead of aggressive chemicals - good for the environment, bad for the cutlery.

It would therefore be desirable to have a multi- dishwasher tab or a hand-held detergent that, despite its good environmental properties, impresses with its powerful performance and gently blinks and flashes the dishes. But the manufacturers will probably have to do some work. So it remains exciting what the next test from Stiftung Warentest will result in.
