- French media group starts new live stream project LeLive.
- Stream escalates to the start and ends in media super-meltdown.
- Users amuse themselves about the first edition of the live broadcast.
The French media group Webedia started a new project on Monday, February 3rd, 2020 . The principle was promising: together with a number of celebrities and YouTube stars as well as streamers from France , the company wanted to start a hybrid between WEB-TV and social media interaction . However, just four hours after the start on Twitch, the livestream developed into a media super-GAU.
The French media group Webedia: LeLive-Stream becomes a super meltdown
The French media group Webedia has been around since 2007. The company currently operates over 50 Internet offers from the areas of film, video games, cooking, fashion and also e-sports . Webedia reaches a total of over 90 million people per month (as of March 2016). Thanks to constant expansion, Webedia has now also entered the German market. Webedia GmbH has independent offices in Berlin and Munich. The group now wants to start with streamers on Twitch with a sophisticated live program.
LeLive: Cross-platform streaming show on Twitch ends in disaster
To this end, the company developed new plans to generate more reach and tried its own online TV show, LeLive. Almost 50 hours of original content per week should be shown on all streaming platforms. These include TikTok, Twitch, Mixer, Molotov, YouTube, Facebook, Dailymotion and Instagram . Everything live, of course. What sounds like a sound plan in theory turned out to be an absolute flop within a few hours, because after a short time the first live stream of the French streaming service developed into a media disaster.
One glitch chases the next - leLive stream on Twitch brings media group into disrepute
The French project was fundamentally doomed in the first few minutes, as tens of users complained not only about the sound quality, but also about the delay between image and sound during the live stream. But that's not all. During the live broadcast umpteen derogatory and racist comments were made , but the stream peaked when the infamous N-word fell.
The result: the ban on Twitch and thousands of complaints . The LeLive team has also been accused of banning Internet users as soon as they complain , even if the comments are not offensive and follow the guidelines. Some chats of the Twitch stream have been deactivated or only made available to subscribers.

Lelive appears to be avoiding the shit storm and continues to post her announcements for the new live streaming shows on Twitter. Nevertheless, tons of comments collect on all social media platforms, which clarify the opinion of the users.

Today @WebediaFR a french TV production compagny tried to launch a twitch channel called @leLIVEonAir with youtubers that were popular 10 years ago. https://t.co/XNaKWGmUl5

Streamer Sweet Anita also threw insults around her, but she was not given a Twitch ban. On ingame.de * you can read how she manages to escape the spell *.
A user allowed himself a special joke after the Twitch ban and took over the account name of the channel, for 5000 € he would give it back to the French broadcaster - an expensive fun.

In the end, it remains to be seen how long the French streaming station will refinance itself and when a public apology will follow.
