Italian NEOS airline from the tourism group ALPITOUR on Tuesday launched its new line that will begin on March 2 between Verona and Ben Gurion Airport. Flights will be held twice a week, Monday and Thursday. 93 flights are scheduled for the spring season.
NEOS has been flying to Tel Aviv for 18 years on charter flights, mainly for pilgrims from Italy, and this is the first time that it will operate a regular route to Israel. Alpithor, Italy's largest and most powerful tourism company, has already started marketing packages through its four brands that include direct flights from Verona.
2019 marked a record year for the Italian movement to Israel. Italy is the sixth country of origin for tourists to Israel. During 2019, 190,700 Italian tourists arrived in Israel, up 27 percent from 2018.
Alpithor's new and involved line of flights will enhance the visibility and sales ability of the Israeli product in Italy. The Verona region is one of the most important and richest in Italy, with a very high passenger potential.
