Fans of "The Witcher" games may have asked themselves a question: Why is the bathtub scene so different in the series? Henry Cavill reveals the reason.

  • In the Netflix series "The Witcher", one scene in particular has burned itself into the minds of the audience.
  • What is meant is the iconic bathtub scene, which is now a meme.
  • For a reason, however, it differs from the bath sequence from the games.

Even before the series "The Witcher" appeared, countless Internet users had converted screenshots of the games of the same name to memes. Thanks to Netflix production, there is now more material for funny pictures - and many users of social media platforms also gratefully accept this opportunity.

A favorite photo of the users is a screenshot of the main character Geralt von Riva (Henry Cavill), who is relaxing in the bathtub. The scene does not owe its iconic status to the series alone, because it also occurs in video games. There it differs somewhat, for which there is a good reason.

Showrunner Lauren Hissrich was inspired by the "The Witcher" games

The series "The Witcher" and the games are both based on the book of the same name. Accordingly, it is not surprising that the stories, characters and scenes have similarities. As show runner Lauren Hissrich * recently revealed in an interview with Writer Experience, she was also inspired by the peculiarities of the game during the creation of the Netflix series , which included a colorful design of the entire world of "The Witcher" *.

In addition, she said that there are Easter eggs hidden in the individual episodes from time to time, which should primarily discover all those who played the games.

Henry Cavill expresses embarrassing detail about the bathtub scene

Was the bathtub sequence in the series a direct allusion to the same iconic scene in the games? One can argue about this, especially because they are not entirely identical. In the games, Geralt von Riva's feet protrude a good way over the edge of the bathtub. Henry Cavill's legs, however, remain under water.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1, he explains why the actor did not reproduce the scene in great detail (see video). So he had tried to put his feet up. Due to the shape of the bathtub, this did not work, which meant he had to do without it.

Thanks to the many memes, the somewhat differently staged bathtub scene is still iconic in its own way. But can she keep up with the sequence from the video games? It is so popular that there is even a Geralt figure in the bathtub:
