Forty days without flights to Olbia. A sacrifice necessary to prepare for the richest summer program ever and to support the growth ambitions of the airport and the entire tourism sector of Gallura through the refurbishment and extension of the runway. Thirty days of events. A demonstration of what an airport is today. From a place of transit, almost a non-place, the airport becomes an integral part of a city, of the community that lives there, a meeting point, a place to host extraordinary events and characters.

It is the declared challenge of "Flight Club", the rich program of events set up by Geasar, the company that manages the "Costa Smeralda" of Olbia. "We want to compensate the city and the territory of the sacrifice that entails having to fly from other airports, starting from Alghero, with the organization of a very rich carnet of musical, artistic, cultural, sporting, food and wine, recreational and pure entertainment events, with the aim of enhancing the link between tradition, innovation, technology and the environment ", said the managing director Silvio Pippobello, inaugurating the imposing event which opened its doors with the cutting of the ribbon, the first musical appointment and a visit to the exhibitions open until March 8, when the Paolo Fresu concert with Danilo Rea will close the show.

"We close to redo the track and increase the time it assists us, we are proceeding according to schedule", said the engineer to the parterre of institutional, economic and cultural actors from Gallura and the whole island and to the numerous public and private partners who have collaborated in organizing an impressive event. "Allowing the community to live and visit the airport in absolutely new conditions is an opportunity to demonstrate what can be done here."

Today the spotlight has turned on "BittiRex", with the eleven dinosaurs that have moved from Bitti to the "Costa Smeralda". In the departures area, go to the exhibition of machines created by the genius of Leonardo da Vinci and that of local artistic craftsmanship, from metal to wood, from fabrics to ceramics. In the check-in area the basketball court set up every winter will be trodden by the champions of Dinamo, Volleyball Olbia and Olbia Calcio, partners of the event such as the gyms that will be the protagonists of the Open Day on Sunday. Concerts, extraordinary guests such as astronaut Paolo Nespoli (7 March), incursions such as today's Tenores di Bitti, unique events such as the Airport Run on Sunday 1 March, the first non-competitive marathon inside an Italian airport.

And yet food and wine, literature, health, food, fashion, children's cinema, entertainment, a planetarium and a professional flight simulator. With a goal. "Increase the usual presences of this time of year". Geasar's challenge is launched.
