(ANSA) - BUENOS AIRES, FEBRUARY 7 - A heat wave has hit Argentina in the last 24 hours, with a temperaturerecord also in the section of Antarctica under Argentine jurisdiction. The state-run Telam news agency reported it today.
Citing the National Meteorological Service, the agency reports that while in Buenos Aires a maximum of 42 degrees of thermal sensation was felt in the middle of the day, in the 'Esperanza' base in Argentine Antarctica, a temperature of 18.3 degrees was registered yesterday.
A value, said the National Meteorological Service, which broke the record of 17.5 degrees marked in the Antarctic region on March 24, 2015.
Furthermore, in the Argentine Permanent Base Marambio, the mercury column reached 14.1 degrees, exceeding the record of 13.8 degrees set for a February day on the 24th of this month, in 2013.
