Who doesn't like to be given presents? Especially as a lucky participant in a competition? However, caution is required with certain notifications - the drugstore chain “dm” now refers to this.

Munich - For some time now, companies have discovered a new trick in the highly competitive retail market in order to improve customer loyalty: sweepstakes are always attracting consumers. Who doesn't like to get something for free? With the amount of hands-on opportunities, however, some quickly lose track - this is the chance for fraudsters.

Customers of “dm” receive a profit message via SMS - but it's a fake

One of them has now tapped into its customers under the guise of the drugstore “dm”. Various inquiries were sent to the group from Karlsruhe via Facebook as to whether a profit message written in somewhat bumpy German was really written in the "dm" company. The potential customers Angela L., Susanne T. and Tanja K. were informed by SMS in almost identical sentences: “You won the 3 place in our DM care raffle. We would like to send you a pair of Adidas. ”To confirm the win, all you have to do is click on the link provided.

But then the customers became suspicious and asked “dm” directly. OK then. Because the group confirmed the assumption that the message did not come from its own house. Customer support writes to Angela L .: “(…) that's 100% fake. We don't have any mobile phone numbers from our customers that we use for the competitions. ”

Tips from "dm" for profit notification: Check URL and contact options

During a discussion about possible further steps of "dm" against the fraudsters who misuse the name of the group, the team commented: "(...) we try to point this out to our customers as good as possible." On its homepage the company has "out." current occasion ”published five tips to recognize a fake competition. So the first look at links should be directed to the URL: Is the domain dm.de? In addition, the specified contact person / owner, the imprint, the contact options and the conditions of participation in a competition should be checked.

Other users also contacted the three mentioned contacts of the supposed winners and referred to similar messages that they would have received by email or SMS. Peter R. received a slightly different congratulations notification, who should answer only three questions according to the pattern "How often do you visit our shop?" In order to be one of "ten happy customers" who win "an exclusive prize" every Friday could.

In the event of a winning message, "dm" suddenly becomes "d & m"

In this case too, the “dm” team lowers their thumbs: “(...) this is also not a competition from us ...”. What was striking about this message, however, was the fact that a & had crept in between the letters d and m in the logo. But by no means every customer pays attention to these subtleties. And as a result, some people fall into the trap of fraudsters in the feeling of happiness that they have finally won something.

A customer found dangerous content in a baby food available from “dm”. Your reaction is stunned. A product from the organic baby food range is being recalled because of possible foreign bodies in the glass. Another customer complains on Facebook about "very unnecessary" packaging from "dm" - and shoots an own goal with it. If you turn a bottle from the "dm" range upside down, you will see a strange design fail.

A change at dm is currently annoying customers. The Payback bonus program is affected.
