The Forum of family associations will launch the # Dònàti Campaign on social networks between 10 and 12 on Saturday , to raise public awareness 'on the possible beauty' of the choice of foster care and adoption in Italy. Short video messages from institutional figures, from the world of entertainment and sport, from representatives of national associations that deal with fostering or adoption, families who will tell their story, but also volunteers who spend every day in Italy to make a dream come true. minor abandoned to find a mom and dad who can give him back a family life.
'The initiative - reads a note from the Forum - is part of the Dònàti project: make yourself a gift, donate a family to those who have not, launched by the Family Forum in 2018 with the aim of giving new impetus to hospitality of children and minors outside the family in Italy. With a particular attention to the serious and realistic story of the choice of family custody, so as to get out of the ideological approach with which this important and beautiful family experience was designed and distorted with respect to its concrete reality '. The invitation that the Forum addresses to all those who 'care about the fate of minors without a family is to like, comment, share, retweet, reply, argue, actively participating in the initiative with their social creativity. Only by speaking, reflecting, witnessing and making an opinion on such a delicate and current issue - emphasizes the association - will it be possible to really change the story of thousands of children who today, in Italy, cannot grow with the affection of a mother and a dad.
According to the latest available data provided by Quaderni della Ricerca Sociale, in fact, in 2016 in Italy there were 26,615 minors outside the family of origin, of which 14,012 welcomed in the family and 12,603 in reception facilities. The latest UNICEF estimates indicate that 140 million children are abandoned worldwide .
Among these, many are orphans, alone in countries at war, abandoned by their parents in the institute or, again, street children with no parents. In this context, the Forum underlines, in Italy there are over 3 million sterile couples and about 5 million married couples without children and an advance of the annual report of the Commission for International Adoptions shows a further drop in the number of adoptions made (-14 % from 2018); in the last ten years, in our country , it has gone from about 4,300 adoptions to not even a thousand. The campaign of the Forum of family associations therefore intends to inform about the possibility of 'a choice of subsidiarity and co-responsibility capable of restoring the smile to abandoned children'.
