Apple Pay has been available at Sparkasse for some time. However, this plans an enormous expansion of the mobile payment service for 2020.
- Sparkasse customers with an Apple device and credit card can use the Apple Pay mobile payment service.
- At the checkout you simply pull out your smartphone and the purchase is paid for.
- This year, however, the Sparkasse plans to expand the Apple Pay offering enormously.
Munich - Neither cash nor checking or credit cards are needed at many checkouts these days to pay for your purchases. Since Apple Pay came into existence, customers can also pay quickly and easily on the go. The payment method was introduced in the United States in 2014, and Apple Pay has also been available in Germany since December 11, 2018. A whole range of banks already offer the mobile payment method, but the Sparkasse is planning a far-reaching step this year with regard to paying via mobile phone.
Apple Pay enables cashless payments directly on the iPhone
From iPhone to Apple Watch - in order to use the Apple Pay services, you first need a compatible end device from Apple . You also need to have a credit card that supports Apple Pay, which is then deposited for fast and cashless payments. At all cash registers, where the symbol for contactless payment or even the Apple Pay symbol can be seen, the customer can simply pay with his Apple device. The process is confirmed by Face or Touch ID.
Sparkasse is currently preparing Apple Pay for checking cards
However, not everyone has a credit card who would like to use Apple Pay and the Sparkasse is currently working on ensuring that their customers can also use Apple Pay with a checking card in the future. An employee of the Sparkassen social team wrote on Facebook after several users inquired about it using an Apple Pay video. "We are preparing the checking card for 2020," said the Sparkassen spokesman.

Not everyone is excited about the new opportunities
However, Apple Pay is not something for every Sparkasse customer. Just as is often mentioned when paying with a card, some people also see it critically with the mobile payment service that, unlike when paying with cash, you have a poorer overview of your finances. A user therefore writes: "Only for those who also have something in the account, otherwise it can turn into a failure !!!"

The ARD documentary “Story in the First” claims to have uncovered that Sparkassen and Volksbanken in Germany systematically defraud and rip off their customers.
A revolution is beginning at the Sparkasse. The reason is the great competition in the banking market.
