Give hope and literally 'free' fifty women today locked up in an asylum in Kochi, in the state of Karala, India, and open a mental health center (CSM) in this city, similar to those that exist in Italy. This is the challenge facing the movement "The Words found" , an association founded in Trento almost 30 years ago and made up of doctors and psychiatric operators, CSM users and their families. The goal is to convert a structure in Kochi - initially intended to house a school and already partially built and made available by the Dominican nuns of Santa Maria del Rosario - into a mental health center and a reception center for guests who will be 'free' from the asylum. The same sisters have already been in contact with a mixed group of mental health from Prato who goes to Kochi every year to help those forced to live in the asylum.

Now the first obstacle to overcome is to collect the sum necessary to readapt the building, which is located in the Edacochin district of Kochi: 300 thousand euros, a third of which has undertaken to find it, with a fundraising campaign that started in these days, just the movement 'The words found'. "It is a challenge we have taken to give hope to many people today excluded from the community and locked up in structures of death - explains Dr. Renzo De Stefani , referent of 'The words found' - and to restore those fifty women with dignity and fundamental rights that must be guaranteed to every human being will have something miraculous: but it is the same 'miracle' that Basaglia did and the many who fought with him for the closure of the asylums in Italy in 1978 with the Law 180. An ethical battle, but also anchored to the scientific nature of recognized treatments and community welfare models ".

De Stefani in early December of last year went to Kochi to examine the situation and evaluate the feasibility of the project. The property covers 2,500 square meters. It is built in a parallelepiped with a large internal courtyard that makes it airy and suitable for promoting a dimension of 'open' relationship. Outside it has a large area that can be used for different destinations, from work, entertainment and neighborhood involvement. Hundreds of self-financing postcards were printed to raise the necessary funds. Each is a unique piece, because it bears a unique number. Sold as a free offer, they will be sent by Kochi to the address indicated by the benefactors. An original way to resonate the initiative.
