The second cycling tour of the modern era takes shape. The teams that will be at the start of the stage race organized by RCS Sport-La Gazzetta dello Sport have been announced, in collaboration with the Sicilian Region and scheduled from 1st to 4th April.
Compared to the 2019 edition, which was revived after a few decades of stopping, there will be 24 formations at the start (they were 18 in 2019), with 3 World Teams: EF Pro Cycling, Israel Start-Up Nation and UAE Emirates; 12 Pro Team and 9 Continental Team. The runners of the 24 formations at the start from Syracuse will compete in the four stages towards the arrivals of Licata (Agrigento), Mondello (Palermo), Caronia (Messina) and Mascali (Catania). Along the way also the climb of Etna from the slope of Piano Provenzana, the same that will be tackled by the 5th stage of the 103rd Giro d'Italia. In the race there will be some big names, such as the Colombian Nairo Quintana, winner of the pink race in 2014; the Italian champion on the road, Davide Formolo; the winner of the Giro di Sicilia 2019, the American Brandon McNulty; the French Pierre Rolland (winner of stages in the Giro and the Tour) and Arthur Vichot, in addition to the home runner Giovanni Visconti.
