The Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires confirmed Friday that in Buenos Aires territory about 96 cases of dengue were recorded, and it was detailed that 95% of the patients had traveled prior to the onset of symptoms to the provinces of Misiones and Formosa, as well as Paraguay, Bolivia and Colombia.

The health portfolio said in a statement that "of the total confirmed cases, four do not have a record of travel history to areas with proven viral circulation and are from the municipalities of Avellaneda, La Matanza and Tres de Febrero ".

It was clarified that the areas where these cases were identified "are under investigation to define whether there is dengue viral circulation."

Also, it was recalled that this week " the death of a 73-year-old person, resident in the Buenos Aires suburbs, with a confirmed diagnosis for dengue" was recorded and it was explained that the death occurred in a private hospital in the City of Buenos Aires.

On the other hand, the ministry said that "epidemiological research is under way to identify the determining factors and the probable site of infection."

The specialists said that dengue " is a dynamic disease that can evolve into serious forms " and added that "since at the beginning of the disease, it is not possible to know if it will heal within a week or lead to complications, you should be alert when the febrile stage ends and the doctor is urgently seen in the presence of intense and continuous abdominal pain; persistent vomiting; bleeding of mucous membranes (gums, nose, vagina) and increased drowsiness or irritability. "

Dengue symptoms include: fever greater than 38º C with no signs of respiratory infection, accompanied by headache, retro-ocular pain, muscle and joint pain, severe general malaise, reddish rashes on arms and legs, itching, diarrhea, nausea , vomiting, nosebleeds and gums.

They added that to control this disease, which transmits the Aedes aegypti mosquito, it is necessary to carry out the "scrapped"; eliminate disused containers that can accumulate water; turn objects that are outside and can accumulate water when it rains; and change the water of animal drinkers daily every 3 days.

Also, use in the vases alternative products such as gels or wet sand instead of water; keep the patios and gardens weathered and uncover rain drains from the roofs.
