In Paris, the annual Drawing Fair (Palais Brongniart) will open in a month. But already the amateurs are enjoying themselves. From Antonio Pisanello to Zaha Hadid, the City of Architecture presents until March 16 a selection of architectural drawings from the wealthy Albertina Palace in Vienna. And, since according to the ancient Vitruvian authority, the basis of architecture is the line and the man its measure, we cannot recommend, before or after, a visit to the Custodia Foundation. A stone's throw from the National Assembly, this art center, which deserves to be known other than by estheticians alone, exhibits 85 old Italian sheets out of the 600 it keeps.
Here are black stones, inked feathers, silver points or washes from Federico Barocci, Filippino Lippi, Vittore Carpaccio, Andrea del Sarto, Beccafumi, di Credi. And again Parmesan, Zuccari, Guerchin, Salviati, Cavalier d'Arpin, Carrache brothers, Guido Reni, Dominiquin, Pierre de Cortone, Jules Romain.
