BICLOU, EPISODE 3 - 28 cyclists died on Parisian roads between 2012 and 2018. 13 of them in similar circumstances: after a collision with a heavy vehicle, whether it was a truck with or without d '' a trailer, bus or utility vehicle.
These dramas reflect one of the deadliest dangers for urban cyclists: the blind spots of vehicles without visibility. "It's like putting an elephant in a porcelain store," slips Louis Belenfant, director of the Collectif Vélo Île-de-France and of the Ile-de-France branch of the association Mieux à Displacer à Bicyclette (MDB).
No respite on the bike path
If these blind spots kill cyclists every year, other dangers lie in wait for cycling enthusiasts in Paris. Doors opened carelessly by hurried motorists and their passengers figure prominently in the most common accidents.
On the bike path, squatting scooters, poorly parked vehicles and refused yielding also threaten pedal enthusiasts where they feel most sheltered.

What is "Biclou"? A Biclou, in somewhat familiar language, means a bicycle. It is also the title of a large video series launched by "Le Parisien", in partnership with Facebook Watch.
Every week, you can find an issue of "Biclou" on the Facebook page of "Parisien".
In total: a one-year operation, with 48 episodes in magazine format, and a dedicated team to talk about the little queen's comeback.
In 2020, the bicycle is making a comeback.
Green, fast, occupying a reduced space on the road, and maintaining the shape of its users, the biclou reappears in the landscape adorned with all the virtues.
Electric bikes, whose sales are exploding, open up new possibilities, in town as well as in the countryside.
