The spread of the coronavirus, identified in Wuhan, China, continues to increase, as yesterday, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a global health emergency.
Meanwhile, some Facebook and Twitter users claim that aerosols and disinfectant wipes manufactured by brands such as Lysol and Clorox can eliminate the current outbreak.
While disinfectant sprays can help delay the spread of any viral threat, experts say they are not 100% effective.
"Get yourself some Lysol and you'll be fine. This kills the coronavirus in 30 seconds," wrote a Twitter user.

Another Facebook post, which was already considered "false information" on the social network, suggests that a bottle of Clorox "claimed it could kill the coronavirus before it developed."

However, according to the company's own statements, some of its products are effective "against similar viruses" to the coronavirus 2019-nCoV.
Specific products that "can be used against similar viruses" include disinfectant wipes and two cleaners that, according to the EPA's Emerging Pathogen Policy, can work when used as directed.
Similarly, some Lysol products can help you prevent coronavirus as long as the instructions are followed correctly, according to a statement by Lysol on its website .
However, it is worth mentioning that this current strain is not the only form of coronavirus and, in fact, is found in a family of other viruses, such as SARS and MERS.
Therefore, the CDC indicates that the best way to prevent acquiring coronavirus is by following these recommendations:
1. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with dirty hands.
3. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
In addition, if you have cold-like symptoms, you can help protect others by doing the following:
1. Stay home while you are sick.
2. Avoid contact with other people.
3. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and immediately wash your hands.
4. Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces frequently.
