The mayor of this small commune in Haute-Savoie announced that six residents have contracted the coronavirus. Other residents are waiting

"I am concerned about the situation," said François Daviet, the mayor of this town of 5,000 inhabitants after the detection of two new cases of coronavirus. In total, six inhabitants contracted the coronavirus in this commune located 13 kilometers from Annecy, he confirmed on BFMTV.

This outbreak seems to have been clearly identified. The first infected patient, "patient 14" in reference to the number of cases of coronavirus treated in France since the start of the crisis, is a man who makes regular trips to Lombardy for his work as a cheese merchant.

"He was able to accurately trace all of his appointments," said the health authorities. This allowed the ARS to trace the contacts it had in France since the first clinical signs until the date of February 24 when it was detected positive.

The man even sent an Excel workbook with names and phone numbers of the people he met.

Residents await test results

This man infected his wife, their daughter and one of their friends. The two new cases had also met "patient 14" during a party on February 15 which gathered 120 people.

"It is quite possible that there are other cases of contamination," continued the mayor, because "there are a certain number of citizens who said they had tested and are awaiting the results". In the meantime, these residents have been confined to their homes.
