In the midst of the progress of the coronavirus, and while in Argentina there are still no confirmed cases, the City of Buenos Aires launched a protocol to address the possible arrival of the disease. And beyond the care and precautions, they announced that there will be special control for people arriving from China, Japan, South Korea, Iran and some regions of northern Italy .

“As much as we already know that until now neither in the City of Buenos Aires nor in Argentina we have confirmed cases, since it is a phenomenon that is expanding worldwide and that there are 45 countries in which there are cases, what we have what to do is to get ahead, we have to prevent ”, said the head of Buenos Aires Government, Rodríguez Larreta, during a press conference.

The president said that they are “taking all the necessary precautions, from the City of Buenos Aires and in coordination with the national Government, on the one hand to prevent the entry of the virus and on the other to restrict or limit its spread and to have all the health system prepared in the event of a case arising ”.

"The first thing we want to do is bring peace to all Buenos Aires, tell them that we are prepared and that we are taking all the necessary precautions," he said. Larreta also asked the neighbors to approach the minimum symptom or doubt "to ask a question.

For his part, the Minister of Health of Buenos Aires, Fernán Quirós , said that beyond the virus has been detected in more than 40 countries “only 5 of them have a proven viral circulation, which are China, Japan, South Korea, Iran and some regions of northern Italy. ” Therefore, there will be stricter control for neighbors who have visited those places.

The Buenos Aires official defined that a suspected case is "to have compatible symptoms (fever accompanied by respiratory symptoms) but at the same time that the person has been present in a country where there is viral circulation."

About the protocol, he said that the detection of a case has to be early “because we have to isolate it as quickly as possible so that it is not distributed in other cases, and safe because we need to protect the links of that person, on the one hand, and also protect the health team who is the one who has to handle these situations in case they appear ”.
