Tomei's proposals are based on statements made by Burlando in interviews he gave to América TV between February 19 and 21. For Tomei, Burlando "not only strengthened the substantive denominations he had been using, but went even further: he said he was willing to defend those who killed them."
Therefore, he considered that Fernando's parents' lawyer should be criminally investigated as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of public intimidation and crime apology, while his conduct has to be evaluated by the Bar Association.
This week, the defendant's lawyer suffered a setback by the Justice of Guarantees, which rejected the request for challenge against prosecutor Verónica Zamboni , so he will continue to lead the investigation that keeps eight of the rugby players detained in the Warden of the Penal Unit 6 of Dolores, considered "co-authors", and two released, although charged as "necessary participants" in Fernando's crime, a double aggravated homicide.
The defender has already appealed to the Chamber of Appeals and Guarantees of Pain to resolve the preventive detention that weighs on the accused; could do it again to appeal the measure dictated by Mancinelli on the challenge.
With the same arguments he had presented for Zamboni to be challenged, in addition, Tomei filed a criminal complaint for alleged irregularities in the investigation, which is processed in the UFI No. 4 of Dolores, by prosecutor Mario Pérez. For now, the defender's strategy is focused on attacking the parties, not the very serious accusation that could lead to life imprisonment for the accused.
